Roth François-Xavier

François-Xavier is the Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège Wallonie-Bruxelles and holds the positions of Associate Guest Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Associate Conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Invited Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Navarra. He also has special relationships with and regularly conducts the London Symphony Orchestra and the Ensemble Intercontemporain.

Biography


His repertoire ranges from 17th century to contemporary music and encompasses all genres : symphonic, operatic and chamber. In 2003, he founded the innovative orchestra Les Siècles, which performs contrasting and colourful programmes on modern and original instruments as appropriate, often within the same concert. With Les Siècles, he was awarded a Diapason Découverte for their CD of Bizet and Chabrier, recorded for Mirare and has given concerts in France, England, Portugal and Japan. Since 2007 they have their own television series, entitled Presto, which attracts a weekly audience of 4 million on average.

François-Xavier is a graduate from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique where he studied with Alain Marion and Janos Fürst. He was the winner of the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition (2000) in London and became Assistant Conductor of the LSO for two years. He alsoassisted Sir John Eliot Gardiner on productions of Les Troyens, Benvenuto Cellini and Falstaff.

In 2007, he made his North American début with the LSO, conducting Beethoven 9th Symphony atthe Florida International Festival.

Intercontemporain, performances of Mignon at the Opera Comique de Paris, in China with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and concerts with Les Siècles in Germany, The Netherlands and France. He will also work at the recording studio with Liège Philharmonic and the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
